What does the Van-Guard Warranty cover? Our warranty covers the “coach” components of your campervan build — the systems and craftsmanship installed by your builder. This includes electrical, plumbing, heating, appliances, and more. It does not cover the vehicle chassis, engine, or drivetrain, which are typically covered by the van manufacturer (Ford, Mercedes, Ram, etc.).
-
Is the vehicle itself covered? No. Van-Guardcovers the coach portion only — the interior systems and modifications made during your van conversion. The van’s mechanical systems (engine, transmission, etc.) are the responsibility of the original vehicle manufacturer.
-
How long does coverage last?We offer flexible warranty terms ranging from 1 to 5 years, depending on your plan. Each plan has a mileage cap (e.g., 15,000 miles per year) and is designed to match your usage style — whether you're a weekend explorer or full-time vanlifer.
-
What happens if something breaks while I’m on the road? You’ll contact our customer service team 24/7. We’ll troubleshoot the issue and locate a certified repair facility in your area to handle the service. If you’re within 100 miles of your original builder, repairs may be directed back to their shop.
-
Do I need to file a claim before getting repairs?Yes. You must file a claim with us and receive approval before any work begins. We’ll coordinate with the repair facility and authorize payment once the issue is verified and approved.
-
What’s the difference between in-network and out-of-network repairs? If you’re near a Van-Guardpartner shop, the repair is handled in-network and fully covered. If not, we’ll direct you to a trusted out-of-network shop — a 20% deductible applies in those cases.
-
Can I get a warranty for a used van?Yes, but the van must be inspected and approved by a Van-Guard partner before coverage begins. Custom vans must meet certain build and documentation standards to qualify.
-
Do I have tobe RVIA certified to participate? No — you do not need to be RVIA certified to participate in the Van-Guard Warranties program. We recognize that many talented and reputable van builders operate independently of RVIA certification. That’s why we’ve developed our own set of quality standards and a qualification process, specifically tailored to the unique nature of custom campervans and conversion builds. Our goal is to support great builders — not limit them. If you meet our standards for craftsmanship, safety, and serviceability, you're eligible to offer Van-Guard Warranties to your customers.
-
How do I join the Van-Guard Warranty program as a builder?Submit a quick application to get prequalified. If approved, you’ll receive access to the builder portal, claim tools, and printed warranty documents for your clients. Start here: Fill out This Survey
-
What information do I need to provide for each warranty?Builders must submit: A detailed, itemized scope of work, Photos of the finished van (interior and exterior), Installed system specs (electrical, plumbing, etc.), VIN and mileage at delivery.
-
Can I earn revenue as a repair partner too?Yes! All participating builders are invited to join our in-network repair facility program, earning paid work by servicing other Van-Guard warranty holders passing through your region.
-
What happens if a client has an issue near my shop?If the client is within 100 miles of your facility, you’ll handle the repair directly as part of your original workmanship responsibility. Van-Guard will handle claims outside of your service area.
-
Can I bundle the warranty with the van sale?Absolutely. Builders can include the warranty as part of the van purchase price or offer it as an optional upgrade. We provide digital and printed brochures for your glovebox and sales team.
-
Who pays for repairs? For in-network repairs, Van-Guard covers both labor and material costs once the claim is approved. For out-of-network repairs, Van-Guard pays the balance after the client’s deductible is applied.
